Image Credit - http://theotherdiet.blogspot.com/2009/04/x-men-origins.htmlI went to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine without seeing the three previous movies with Jay, Mike and Johnny in May. I thought it was okay but definitely not the greatest movie of all time. My friends liked it for the most part, more than I did anyway. I still gave it a 3/5. I thought for an X-Men, movie I was expecting more than just wolverine even though the title is named after wolverine. They should have really dumped the X-Men tag all together. It's common knowledge that Wolverine is a member of the X-men! I didn't like the ending at all, I was like "what?!?! He just forgets everything that just happened? Did I just waste my time?" (Keep in mind, I was completely absent minded and this was my FIRST X-men movie) My friends suggested that I should watch the others too.
During my trip in Ottawa, I stumbled across the trilogy for $15 and I bought it. I just finished all three and I have to say that the fourth installment now makes much more sense, ESPECIALLY the ending! I liked 1 and 3 the most, probably as much as Wolverine. X2 I found kind of pointless...the team was too weak in that one especially Cyclops, Storm, and Jean, the three of them was like Superman in Superman Returns. There wasn't even a true fight, they kind of stood there. The deaths in X3 were kind of what brought it down, otherwise it would've been my favourite. I don't think there will be anymore X-Men sequels directed towards X3.
Wolverine was more of a prequel, telling the past of Wolverine and where he came from. Many of the flashes of his memory in X1, X2, and X3 were presented quite accurately in this one and I thought it was neat after I was able to pick them out. I sort of watched the entire series in the order it would have happened chronologically though it was never meant to be watched in that order. Something that still bugs me is that there were other guys who were part of this latest movie besides Logan like Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Gambit but they only had a few scenes. I still think there was still just a little too much of one person. However, I do bump it up to 3.75/5. It is still pretty good.
